In a new interview, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio answered various questions about politics, specifically her plan for 2022.
First, Duterte-Carpio culminated in the proposed Duterte-Duterte tandem in 2022, where he will run for president, and father Rodrigo Duterte will be the vice president after his term at the Palace.
“It will never happen that merong Duterte-Dutere and then sinabi naman na ni PRD kung ano yung mga reasons niya kung bakit ayaw niya ako tumakbong president,” the mayor said.
She doesn’t even seem to have a final decision on whether she will run for president.
But if before, she said she did not want to be president in this 2022 election despite being overwhelmed by surveys, now the mayor has admitted that she is already thinking about it.
“Pinag-iisipan, kasi a lot of people are asking me to reconsider my decision not to run for president, and a lot of people are demanding to talk to me about it… Binigyan ako ng HNP (Hugpong ng Pagbabago) governors until July to decide,” Sara Duterte said.
Sara Duterte admits thinking about running for president
Sara Duterte, on the other hand, answered the speculations that her statements were scripted and she will only be like the father who ran for president at the last moment.
“Walang script. Ngayon is pinag-iisipang maigi yung desisyon dahil hindi siya madaling trabaho na gawin.”
Candidacies for the 2022 election will be filed in October, so only then will the politicians’ plans for the election become clear.
In April, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is still the first among the people to vote for the possible presidential candidates in the May 2022 elections, according to a survey by Pulse Asia.
Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (13 percent) was second to Duterte. Senator Grace Poe and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno followed 12 percent each and Sen. Manny Pacquiao with 11 percent.
The survey was conducted from February 22 to March 3, 2021, with a +/- 2 percent error margin and a 95 percent confidence level.
