The presidential daughter Sara Duterte -Carpio has filed a medical leave and assigned her brother Vice Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte as the acting mayor of Davao City for one week that she is away.
Mayor Inday Sara would be on medical leave from September 28 to October 5, the Office of the City Mayor of Davao on September 26, announced.
“She will be out of town for medical purposes. She is continuously present online to meet deadlines for her office,” read the announcement.
In a memorandum added Sara Duterte -Carpio said her younger brother Baste Duterte “shall assume the duties and responsibilities of the said position (acting mayor) as mandated by law and oversee the overall operations of all city government/departments/officers, and perform such other duties as may be directed by the undersigned from time to time.”
Drilon said Duterte should go beyond the fact that his children holding government positions would be affected by the anti-dynasty law if he really wants to knock down oligarchy in the Philippines.
Duterte’s children who are in the government are House Deputy Speaker Paolo Duterte, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, and Vice Mayor Baste Duterte.
Sara Duterte for president?
Meanwhile, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo brought the idea of the Duterte-Duterte tandem, President Rodrigo Duterte running as vice president and his daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio running for president in the 2022 elections.
He added the opposition ‘won’t stand a chance’ against the father and daughter tandem.
“Oh, ‘di ba? Ang ganda! Duterte-Duterte. Wala na. Patay ang oposisyon pag tumakbo ang dalawang ito,” he added.
(What do you think? It’s good! Duterte-Duterte. Game over. The opposition won’t stand a chance if these two would run.)
However, President Rodrigo Duterte advised his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, not to run for president in 2022 if she would do it only for ambition.
“Huwag kang mag-presidente unless you see something na kaya mo para gawin sa bayan,” the country’s chief executive said.
(Do not become president unless you see something you can do for the people.)
