Roque denies bullying of Robredo’s daughters

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque denied that daughters of Vice President Leni Robredo were bullied after making comments allegedly attacking President Rodrigo Duterte on social media.

Roque said in an interview on GMA News’ Unang Balita that he was just saying that VP Leni’s daughters have commented on the President’s response during the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.

“Hindi ko po alam kung sino ang nagbu-bully,” Roque said.

“Pero kami ay siniwalat lang namin ang katotohanan noong sinabi namin na talagang nagsalita rin ang kanyang mga anak sa isyu nga ng #NasaanAngPresidente. So hinahayaan na po natin ‘yan,” he added.

Tricia Robredo, on November 14, asked her followers on Twitter, “Tulog pa rin? Alas otso na.” Aika Robredo then replied, “Sabado eh, weekend.”

On Friday, Robredo defended her daughters against bullying, insisting they have the right to speak their minds like any other Filipinos.

“Ngayon, ang binubully mga anak ko. I have always been proud of the persons my daughters have become. They are their own persons. What they have accomplished, so far, are all borne out of their hard work. They never used our name or whatever little influence we have to get what they want,” Robredo said.

“They’re all adults now. They’re not in government. They are not politicians, and they don’t plan to be. Totoo, they’re outspoken and rightfully so. We have trained them to stand up for themselves and what they believe in,” she added.
Last week, a visibly angry  called Robredo “a dishonest person” and claimed the Vice President spearheaded the #NasaanAngPangulo (where is the President?)
Duterte claimed that VP Leni Robredo ordered the military at the height of Ulysses’ onslaught.

“You are presuming that I should be giving orders on the day of the storm. That is stupid… That is why you cannot be president. Mahina ka. You do not give orders on the day of the war, patay ka,” Duterte said.

Duterte also threatened Robredo’s possible bid for the presidency.

“Marami ako sabihin sa’yo. Reserba ko na lang. When you start your campaign, waswasan kita. This is your nightmare,” he warned.

The President continued to question Robredo’s whereabouts at night, what time she goes home, and where.
