Police arrested a former US Navy after he shot dead his girlfriend who just gave birth to their baby two weeks ago.
Jasmin Gabriel Galban reported on GMA Regional TV “Balitang Amianan” on Thursday that the victim was identified as Maria Teresa Ambas, 39, resident of Barangay Macayug, Mangaldan.
According to the victim’s uncle Samuel Abrio, he was resting in his house just a few meters away from the victim when he heard loud gunfire.
When he went to his niece’s house, he found her lying on the floor inside the house compound.
According to the police investigation, Amba’s former boyfriend and the father of her baby Rommer Gonzales, 40, appears to be a suspect in the crime.
The victim allegedly broke up with the ex-US Navy before giving birth because she found out that Gonzales had an affair.
“Yung isang motive ng pagpatay yung love triangle. Saka yung anak ng babae na namatay yung bata. Kasi yung suspek gusto niyang kunin yung anak niya,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Jun Wacnag, chief of Mangaldan Police.

(One motive for the killing is a love triangle. The suspect wanted to get his child from the victim.)
“Tinawagan muna yung babae na biktima, pinapalabas [ng bahay]. Pero yung babae kasi kapapanganak lang dalawang linggo, mahihirapan siya, ayaw ng babae na lumabas. And then yung suspek ayun pinasok na dun sa bahay [sa compound],” he added.
(The suspect called the victim to go out of the house. But the woman just gave birth two weeks ago, she will have a hard time, the woman does not want to go out. And then the suspect entered the house [in the compound].)
The suspect was arrested at the house of the woman with whom allegedly he is having an affair.
