The girl showed symptoms of rabies on March 6, including delirium, abnormal behavior, hallucinations, and hydrophobia (fear of water). The victim was not able to go to school until she died on Sunday and was immediately buried the same day at 2 pm.

Reports said the girl was bitten by a rabid dog in the still unknown area in their barangay last November 2019.

According to the CDC, the acute period of disease typically ends after 2 to 10 days. Once clinical signs of rabies appear, the condition is nearly always fatal, and treatment is generally supportive.
