Quezon City cop arrested for raping minor

A Quezon City policeman is now detained at Quezon City Police District Station 10 for allegedly raping a 17-year-old Saturday night.

According to Police Lt Col Alex DJ Alberto, Station Commander of PS 10, the suspect was identified as Police Chief Master Sergeant Galahad Altarejos, who is currently assigned to the Crime Laboratory Office of the Quezon City Police.

Based on the QCPD report, Altarejos accompanied the victim and her aunt to their house around 10 pm Saturday night.

The aunt explained that they had known the said policeman for a long time.

“Habang naglalakad kami pauwi ng bahay nagconvoy siya ng motor niya kasi nga daw po may dala ako pera para daw po iwas disgrasya,” she said.

Arriving at their house, the victim’s aunt allegedly went upstairs and fell asleep.

The girl and the suspect were allegedly left below. According to the report, the victim asked the suspect to go home because she would sleep. But the suspect reportedly refused to leave and pulled her into her room.

“Ang pamangkin ko na lalaki na 22 years old pag-akyat ko umalis din pala at pumunta sa kaniyng girlfriend at iniwan niya ‘yung pamangkin ko na babae at ‘yung SOCO… nagkuwentuhan sila pinapauwi na daw niya kasi inaantok na siya bigla siyang hinila papunta sa kwarto niya,” the victim’s aunt said.

It was here that the aunt allegedly heard a crash and immediately went down. Here she saw her niece naked and covered with a blanket.

The aunt immediately called the police and arrested the accused suspect after the victim positively identified Altarejos, who allegedly raped her.

According to the victim’s aunt, it was first difficult for her to submit her niece to medico-legal because of the suspect’s work.

As the victim’s guardian, she allegedly decided to sue the police. However, the suspect refused to give an interview.

According to the QCPD, the suspect will face charges of rape and violation of Republic Act No. 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

The suspect is currently detained in the Criminal Investigation, and the Detection Unit of the QCPD will be considered open for inquest proceedings.
