Quarantine classification until July 31 released

President Rodrigo Duterte has already approved new quarantine classifications for the whole country from Friday, July 16, until the end of the month.

From general community quarantine (GCQ) with some restrictions, Metro Manila will return to regular GCQ until July 31.

Apart from Metro Manila, GCQ also has Baguio City, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and 8 other places in Luzon.

GCQ is also imposed over Guimaras and Negros Occidental in the Visayas, and 15 areas in Mindanao.

Cagayan, Laguna, Lucena City, Naga City, Negros Oriental, Zamboanga del Sur, and Davao City are in the GCQ with heightened restrictions until July 31.

Until July 22, GCQ with heightened restrictions in Aklan, Bacolod City, Antique, and Capiz.

Under the heightened GCQ, indoor sports and gyms, indoor tourist attractions, and venues for meetings and conferences are prohibited.

Personal care services such as salons, parlors, and beauty clinics are at 30 percent capacity, but this could increase to 40 percent if establishments have safety seals.

Quarantine classification until July 31 released

The permissible capacity of outdoor tourist attractions is also 30 percent. In comparison, indoor dining restaurants are 20 percent, which can be increased to 30 percent with safety seals and 50 percent for al fresco or outdoor dining.

Ten percent is allowed for religious activities and weddings, baptisms, and wakes, although the local government can allow up to 30 percent.

Meanwhile, Bataan, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao Occidental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, and Butuan City will be placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until the end of the month.

MECQ is also imposed in Iloilo City and Iloilo province but only until July 22.

For the Department of Health, the suggestion of some health experts to keep Metro Manila on GCQ until December is vague because the situation is said to be volatile.

Meanwhile, the Metro Manila Council (MMC) clarified the definition of parks following the permission of children aged 5 and above to go to selected outdoor areas.

According to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benjamin Abalos, there are very few parks in Metro Manila.

Under the new definition, children can be in the outdoor areas of malls.
