Cebu man discovers huge python in house after six puppies disappear

A Cebu man discovered a 20ft python in his house after after the mysterious disappearance of six puppies over the past few weeks.

The discovery at a home in the city’s Barangay Guadalupe was made on Sunday (August 13).

Speaking to SunStar Cebu, the barangay’s security officer Antonio Oran said: “Snakes are common here since this is the biggest barangay in the city and there is also a huge river. But so far, we have not received reports of any casualties or injuries.”

Mr Oran was called to investigate after the householder reported the baffling disappearance of some puppies.

The snake will be handed over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for release into the wild.

Reticulated pythons are among the world’s longest reptiles and are found throughout Southeast Asia, including in the Philippines. They kill by suffocating their victims before swallowing them whole.

Pythons rarely attack humans, although there are occasional reports of them swallowing young children or animals.
