It is said that the big countries are slowly recovering from the pandemic, so the oil demand is picking up.

“Demand-driven ang dahilan ng pagtaas ng presyo,” said Rodela Romero, assistant director of the Oil Industry Management Bureau.

“Sa isang ikot, kung minsan P50 na lang ang natitira. Kaysa magutom pamilya, e di tiis-tiis ka na lang,” said Puniendo.

“Minsan may natitira naman P200, P300, eh ang bilihin ngayon napakataas,” he added.

Angkas driver Nick Tagaban was also disappointed because they pay the fuel price, which has increased in the past 5 weeks.

He also said that liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) price would increase on July 1, reaching more than P5 per kilo or more than P60 per regular tank.

It is said that China and the United States store LPG for the winter, so the price skyrocketed.

On July 1, the actual value of the price hike will be known.

So the cafeterias that use LPG heavily will once again be affected by large price increases, but they will not increase the price of the dish.

“Kami na lang mag-a-adjust doon. ‘Di kakayanin ng tao dahil sa presyo ng karne, ganoon, mataas din,” said Inday Mante, owner of the canteen.

“Hindi naman namin kailangang bawiin agad ‘yon. Siyempre magrereklamo ang customer kung bigla kang magtataas,” said Joel Bautista, another canteen owner.

The price of a regular LPG tank now ranges from P670 to P770.
