Priest in Pampanga allegedly involved in adultery removed from parish

A Catholic priest who was allegedly caught committing adultery with a married woman has been fired from his parish in Pampanga.

In a statement issued by Archbishop Florentino Lavarias of the Archdiocese of San Fernando, due to the sensitivity of the matter and as a preliminary action, the said priest was first removed from his post in the parish where he was assigned.

He said a thorough investigation into the issue is underway after the archdiocese received a formal complaint from the relevant party.

“The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Fernando reserves the right to take appropriate actions as a more thorough investigation progresses, after the receipt of a formal complaint from the concerned party,” said Lavarias.

The priest was not named in the archbishop’s statement and neither was the parish to which it was assigned.

A five-minute video of a man who angrily confronted a Catholic priest in  for allegedly committing  with his wife went  on social media today.

The man was seen slapping his family’s portrait in front of the priest while in the social hall of the church where the priest is assigned to the city of San Fernando.

He also threw the suitcase and bag next to the priest and said he was leaving his wife with him.

The man added by saying one of the ten commandments about adultery “thou shalt not covet their neighbor’s wife.”

When the priest said “sorry,” the man’s head seemed to heat up even more and he hit the family portrait several times while saying that his family had been destroyed.

Also included is the seeming son of the couple who even warned the priest that it was being investigated.

The man also called the priest a snake several times, because he was close to the family and seemed to be taking advantage of his wife.

The wife was silent, even the priest accused of adultery in the five-minute video.

Archbishop Lavarias, on the other hand, assured that they are in touch with the parties involved to find out the whole truth and also to deliver the necessary pastoral assistance to those affected.

It also asked the public to respect the privacy and rights of those involved in the issue.

“As I invite everybody to respond with introspective concern and earnest prayers, may I also kindly implore all of us to please respect the privacy, identity, and rights of the parties concerned,” the archbishop said.
