President Benigno S Aquino III attended the burial of his “most dependable and efficient” bodyguard at the Panay Alliance Church in Santo Niño, South Cotabato yesterday.
The President went to South Cotabato after a night in General Santos City – Pnoy paid his last respect to PO3 Ryan “Bong” Fuyonan.
43-year-old Fuyonan was a bodyguard for the President since his election to Congress in 2004 and stayed with the president until 2010. He was diagnosed with cancer in April 2014.
His ‘most trusted’ bodyguard accompanied the president on several state visits.
The president was accompanied by Mindanao Development Authority Secretary Luwalhati Antonino, who described the visit as a “personal activity”.
Fuyonan’s family told reporters that they were honoured with the president’s attendance.
