Police in Angeles City are investigating the smuggling of high-grade marijuana inside hollow wooden elephant statues.

Police say they uncovered three kilos of dried marijuana stashed inside a two-foot long wooden elephant statue  which was found in Angeles City on Wednesday.

The statue was left behind on a vegetable farm in Sitio Hardrian, outside Angeles City. A police captain discovered the statue and once inside his office he realized a heavy smell was coming from the large figure.

The captain instructed the statue to be cut open. Inside was the bulk of the marijuana wrapped in newspaper.
