The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Davao say that at least five foreigners are believed to be involved in illegal activities in the region.
CIDG-Davao said: “They are in a secluded area, not really here in Davao City.”
The five involved are thought to be Chinese, possibly linked to the recent discovery of a floating shabu lab which was confiscated on the waters of Subic Bay.
Officials at CIDG-Davao said that the drugs being brought into Davao City are being transported from Mainland China. Often broken up into smaller shipments, the drugs are then transported to shoreline cities around the Philippines in private fishing vessels.
A spokesman for CIDG said that the foreigners would then pick up the drugs and divide the shipments up between locals who would then cut them into small portions and distribute them to small dealers, users and businesses.
