Woman arrested for scamming over 200 airline employees
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Las Piñas arrested a woman who allegedly pretended to be a real estate broker and victimized about 200 employees of an airline.
The NBI Special Unit identified the suspect as Lolita Cantuba.
There is a warrant of arrest against Cantuba in the previous estafa case for issuing 3 bouncing checks in 2016, the NBI said.
She has been in hiding since her warrant was issued, but the suspect allegedly managed to commit fraud with an accomplice flight stewardess from a well-known airline in the country.
Cantuba and the stewardess allegedly offered an investment in a constructed building, where the airline crew would provide money and have a refund within 15 days.
At first, it was said that the money was returned to the airline crew. But this past month, they could not pay, and the victims could not call Cantuba and the alleged accomplice stewardess.
It is said that up to P200 million was obtained from the airline crew.
As a result, Cantuba is facing another estafa case. Her accomplice was also charged.
