PNP insists Christine Dacera was raped

Despite doubts about the alleged rape of flight attendant Christine Dacera in Makati this New Year, the leadership of the Philippine National Police insisted that the victim was raped before she died.

This is what PNP chief Police Gen. Debold Sinas said at a briefing on Wednesday, amid questions on Christine’s real cause of death.

“I think there’s really rape. ‘Yung babae, with bruises, confirmed lacerations tapos may fluid sa private parts niya… It really happened,” said Sinas.

“Ipagpalagay na nating nalasing ‘yung babae… Ay wala namang karapatan ang isang lalaki na makipag-sex sa babae [nang walang pahintulot].”

Makati City Police chief Col. Harold Depositar earlier said that Dacera died of a “ruptured aortic aneurysm.”

Depositar’s side is still ascertaining whether the deceased was really raped, especially since no witness has yet appeared.

“There was sexual contact, based on medico-legal report,” said Depositar.

Three of Dacera’s friends have already been arrested and charged with rape with homicide while nine more are still at large.

Although the search and 72-hour ultimatum continue before the “forced” manhunt operations, it will be recalled that Sinas said that the crime was “case solved.”

Presidential chief legal counsel Salvador Panelo, on the other hand, reminded the public to avoid immediate judgment on the issue, especially since the investigation into Dacera’s case is still ongoing.

“Since the investigation on Christine’s death is ongoing, we advise those who are concerned with the case to reserve their judgments until all the facts are in,” said Panelo.

“Should there be evidence that a crime was committed, then this administration assures that the offenders thereof, regardless of who they are, will be dealt with accordance with law that justice may be served.”

Some suspects, who have identified themselves as “gay,” have denied allegations that they raped the deceased.

Just yesterday, ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Eric Yap offered a P100,000 reward to those who can give information that would lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.

This was followed by the P500,000 reward offer from Sen. Manny Pacquiao who renewed his call for the return of the death penalty to those who commit heinous crimes.
