PNP general still in ICU after chopper crash

PNP Major General Jose Maria Victor Ramos is still in the ICU after their chopper crash yesterday in Sta Rosa, Laguna.

Ramos is still in critical condition due to facial and skull fractures. His friends, family, and fellow police officers are closely monitoring the status of the police general in a hospital in Biñan, Laguna.

Health officials said Ramos is unconscious but has body reflexes. His blood pressure and blood volume were not stable, so blood transfusion was made.

His doctors do not recommend transferring Ramos to another hospital because of his critical condition.

Police Major General Ramos is the Director for Comptrollership or the one who oversees the financial concerns of the PNP.

Meanwhile, investigators will look into possible pilot error, the chopper’s condition, and the takeoff site preparation, said PNP Deputy Chief for Operations Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar.

According to reports of Colonel Wilson Doromal, PNP Chief Archie Gamboa, together with other officials, came from an inspection of impounded carnapped and recovered vehicles in Laguna.

Doromal said the chopper’s landing went well, but when it took off, there was zero visibility due to clouds of dust, and it hit electric wires, causing it to crash.

The takeoff site was drenched with water before Gamboa arrived to inspect impounded vehicles. The ground could have dried up before his chopper took off, Eleazar told DZMM.

Meanwhile, Gamboa said he would return to work on Monday after recovering at the hospital.

“Ako ay lumabas ngayon dito para ipakita sa inyong okay ako. Hindi naman ako nasaktan. As a matter of fact, I am going back to office on Monday,” said Gamboa in a video from PNP PIO.
