PNP Chief Gamboa safe after chopper crash; 2 generals ‘critical’

PNP Chief Archie Francisco Gamboa did not suffer major injuries after a chopper crash this morning in Laguna. However, reports said two of the generals who were with him in the chopper were in critical condition.

Gamboa was first taken to West Lake Hospital in Pacita San Pedro, Laguna, while others were taken to South Woods Hospital.

Gamboa and seven others were transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, PNO Calabarzon spokesperson Chitadel Gaoiran confirmed in a Philippines interview.

“Nag-under pa po ng medication pa po ang ating chief PNP at ‘yung mga kasama po niya,” said Gaoiran.

Meanwhile, the condition of the two generals with Gamboa is critical, Police Lt. Gen. Camilo Cascolan confirmed in the News report.

The two were identified as PNP Director for Intelligence Police Maj. Gen. Mariel Magaway and Director for Comptrollership Police Maj. Gen. Jose Maria Ramos.

PNP spokesperson Police Brig-Gen. Bernard Banac is also in good condition, who was also aboard the helicopter.

The aircraft also had two staff members and two pilots on board.

The Bell 429 chopper was said to have been hit by a high tension wire due to dust, which caused it to collapse.

Gamboa was supposed to attend as a resource person at the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on alleged money laundering by Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators.
