Plane crashes in Calamba City, Laguna resulting in nine (9) deaths on Sunday, September 1.

The medical evacuation plane with registration number RPCC2296 crashed at the Agojo private resort in Purok 6, Miramonte Subdivision, Barangay Pansol, at around 3 pm on Sunday.

According to Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the aircraft left Dipolog Airport in Zamboanga del Norte and was bound for Manila when it crashed near the resort. It was lost in the radar at around 3:10 pm while flying 25 nautical miles from Manila.

Witnesses said the plane was flying towards mountains of Makiling when it started to be covered by smoke. The pilot tried to control the aircraft but failed. It soon crashed to the resort, exploded, and caused a fire.

Calamba Bureau of Fire and the local disaster team responded and had the fire under control by 4:45 pm.

Nurses and doctors dead as plane crashes in Calamba 

Reports said that aside from the pilot and co-pilot, a patient and his wife, nurses and a doctor were also killed in the plane crash.

Further investigations said that two New Zealand nationals were among the nine fatalities.

Two locals, a mother and child who were caretakers of the resort, were also injured in the tragic accident. They were rushed to the nearest hospital for immediate medical treatment.

Names of the victims are yet to be determined as the investigation continues.
