Two more areas in Muntinlupa City have been subjected to 2 weeks of total lockdown to curb the rising COVID-19 case.
The extreme localized community quarantine (ELCQ) was announced on Thursday at noon at 5 streets in Katarungan Village, a private subdivision in Barangay Poblacion.
According to the Muntinlupa city health office, 17 active cases were recorded in the area on Wednesday.
Many high-risk groups such as senior citizens, youth, and pregnant women live in the area.
Such streets were blocked, and residents were barred from leaving except in the event of an emergency.
Starting at 6 pm Thursday, ELCQ was declared in Building 17 of Filinvest Socialized Housing.
All tunnels in the building were locked, except for one through which aid passed.
Only one building and not the entire complex is being locked down.
There have been 7 active COVID cases in more than 100 residents of Building 17.
Those under the ELCQ include the following areas:
August 19 to September 2:
- Katarungan Village, Brgy. Poblacion:
- Angelo Street
- Horrileno Street
- Endencia Street
- Paredes Street
- Barrera Street
- Building 17, Filinvest Socialized Housing, Barangay Alabang
The lockdown will last until September 2 on the streets of Justice Village and Building 17.
August 10 to 25:
- Chico Street, Laguerta, Barangay Tunasan

August 12 to 26:
- Block 8, Hills View
- Mangga Street Lakeview Homes, Barangay Putatan
August 6 to 27:
- Purok 3, Molera Compound, Barangay Sucat
- Purok 7, Beatriz Compound, Barangay Alabang
- De Mesa L & B Street, Barangay Alabang
The distribution of relief goods, such as food packs and hygiene kits, from the local government and barangays is possible.
Mass testing and contact tracing will be conducted.
Police and guards were watching for the residents to leave.
Metro Manila, Laguna, and Bataan were placed under modified enhanced community quarantine until August 31.
“These latest classifications are without prejudice to the strict implementation of granular lockdowns,” said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, also acting as IATF-EID spokesperson, in a press statement.
