According to a report by the Del Gallego Municipal Police Station, the bus driver lost control of the steering wheel as the tire slipped on the highway and crashed into a ravine.

Tropical cyclone “Tisoy” caused heavy rain in the area.

The height of the ravine made the rescue operation difficult. It is also slippery and muddy. Passengers smashed the window behind the bus and the windshield to get out.

Bus driver Marlon Borromeo refused to appear on-cam for the interview. Borromeo said the road was very dark, and the road reblocking warning signs were not correctly placed.

The highway is currently undergoing road widening.

The injured passengers who were taken to Ragay District Hospital have been transferred to a larger hospital in Naga City.

It was less than a week ago when an ALPS passenger bus crashed into the same area where eight were injured.
