MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Army has won the gold medal at the Japan dragon boat championship this past July 19th.
The competition was held in Osaka Japan where the team won in the men’s 250-meter race.
The team posted a time of 53 seconds – just one second ahead of the Japanese National Team.
This was not the first time the team took gold for their country – in 2014 they earned two gold medals at the International Dragon Boat Federation Club Crew World Championship.
Cabunoc says the next scheduled event for the Philippine Army paddlers isn’t set yet, though they’d like to be allowed by the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation to represent the Philippines at the World Dragon Boat Racing Championships in Ontario, Canada from August 18-23.
