Philippine Airlines adds Nesthy Petecio to Forever Flyers list

The Philippine Airlines gives Filipina boxer Nesthy Petecio “60,000 Mabuhay Miles per year, for life” after winning a silver medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“Your silver win showed the heart of a strong Filipina to the world! Thank you for making the country proud. Philippine Airlines is gifting Nesthy Petecio 60,000 Mabuhay Miles per year, for life—adding her to our growing list of Forever Flyers,” Philippine Airlines said.

PAL also gave 80,000 free miles per year, for life to Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz.

Aside from the free flights,  will get P17 million in cash incentives for giving the Philippines its second 2020 Tokyo Olympics medal.

Under the Republic Act 10699, runner-up finishers at the Olympics will get P5 million.

Manny  also pledged P5 million pesos to Petecio while Ramon Ang. Cong. Mikee Romero also promised P2 million for the Filipina boxer.

Petecio will also get a P10-million Suntrust condominium in Davao City from real estate tycoon Andrew Tan.

The condo is located at One Lakeshore Drive inside the 11.2-hectare Davao Park District in Lanang, according to Megaworld subsidiary Suntrust Properties Inc.

The community is “just a little over an hour away” from Petecio’s hometown in Sta. Cruz, Davao Del Sur, Suntrust said.

“We are very proud of this huge accomplishment of Nesthy Petecio. Her silver medal in the Olympics is a historic one because this women’s featherweight division of boxing debuts only in this Tokyo Olympics, and she is the first ever silver medalist in the category,” Suntrust president Harrison Paltongan said.

“Rightfully, she deserves the  from our chairman, Dr. Andrew Tan, for the pride she gives to the Filipino nation.”

Filipina boxer Nesthy Petecio won a silver medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after Sena Irie of Japan defeated her in the final round of the women’s featherweight division Tuesday at the Kokugikan Arena.

In the crucial third round, Irie grabbed and held Petecio, though the Filipina boxer could launch some power punches.

All five judges gave the round in favor of the Japanese fighter, winning the Olympic gold medal.
