Meanwhile, the Philippines extended its travel restrictions to foreigners from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, and Oman until July 15 as a precaution against the dreaded and more contagious Delta variant of COVID-19.

After rumors that some fully vaccinated people have died abroad, Health Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire earlier confirmed that none of those fully vaccinated in the Philippines have died due to the virus.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group is now ordered to investigate the allegations regarding “fixers” of COVID-19 vaccine scheduling in some local governments. This is after Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto revealed that two suspects were caught charging people to get vaccinated in the said city.

“Definitely, charges will be filed against these two individuals. We have a witness against them. Our legal team is now studying what are the appropriate charges that will be filed against them,” Sotto said in Filipino.

“It’s possible this isn’t happening in Pasig only, and this needs to be resolved immediately. We will closely coordinate with our LGUs to prevent the proliferation of this modus,” Police Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, PNP chief, said in a statement.

The PNP chief appealed for the public to be patient in waiting for their scheduled vaccination.

“Let’s not bite and be fooled by this modus. I will repeat that the whole vaccination process is free, we just have to wait for our schedule or line up at the vaccination centers of the LGUs that are open to walk-ins,” he said in Filipino.
