Though many are voicing the approval of President-elect Duterte’s approval to kill all drug dealers and criminals – this week it appears the drug dealers lashed back and killed a prominent Baptist pastor who campaigned against drugs.
46-year-old Pastor Crisostomo Maternal Jr., an evangelist of the Bonbon Mission Church, was shot and killed while driving his motorcycle on the way home on Sunday evening.
Maternal was killed by riding-in-tandem men in Barangay Bonbon in Cebu at 5pm.
The pastor was rushed to Perpetual Succor Hospital and was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
Cebu City Police told reports that Maternal had tipped off authorities several times about illegal drug activity in Bonbon.
Police also noted that Maternal had received death threats via text messages a day before he was killed.
