Parlade calls community pantries ‘CPP’

“CPP,” also an acronym for the Communist Party of the Philippines, is what the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) calls community pantries that distribute free food amid hunger during lockdown.

That is what NTF-ELCAC spokesperson Antonio Parlade called the community pantries, Wednesday, even though Malacañang and National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon have ordered them to stop commenting about the charity project.

“I will not make any further comment on the Community Pantry Ph (CPP) but will continue the charge on other NTF related issues,” Parlade said in a Facebook post earlier.

“Im a soldier. I do as Im told. I asked to be replaced earlier on as NTF Spox but NTF wants me to stay put and renewed my designation as NTF spox instead. Now Im told to stand down on the comm pantry issue ONLY so I will heed, as I always do.”

National Security Adviser Hermogenes , Jr. earlier issued a gag order against 2 spokespersons of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) for them not to give statements related to community pantries.

Recently, the social media page of the NTF-ELCAC and Quezon City Police District () posted an accusation that the organizer of Maginhawa Community Pantry, Ana Patricia Non, was a member of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army.

Badoy also said that donors should find out where the help or money they give to community pantries goes.

Parlade also called the senators stupid over the proposal to strip the NTF-ELCAC of the budget.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez (Cagayan de Oro) is now appealing to the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the incidents of red-tagging in the said community pantries.

“There is a need to look into the red-tagging activities to put a stop to it if it results in good ideas like community pantries being forced to close down,” Rodriguez said in his House Resolution 1725.
