Palawan to hold information summit on September 27

The inaugural Palawan Information Summit will be held at The Legends Hotel, Puerto Princesa City on September 27 and will gather stakeholders from the government and private sector.

The Palawan Information Summit will be attended by more than 100 key government officials from the provincial and national level, as well as private sector leaders and members of the press. The discussion will center on the objective of giving the public access to useful and relevant information that can help with the growth and development of the province.

The theme of the information summit is “Strengthening Partnerships Between Media, Government, Industry and the Public for Development”.

Palawan News partnered with Repetek, Radyo Bandera Network, DWAR, Philippine Broadcasting Service, WESCOM Defense Press Corps, Alyansa ng Palaweñong Mamahayag Inc., the city government of Puerto Princesa, and iOrganize Training and Development Services to organize the 2019 summit.

Joy Tabuada, managing director of Palawan News, said: “This summit is a pioneering undertaking of all the committed stakeholders who share a common view that it is time we forge common grounds to help attain development through an empowered and enlightened citizenry.”

Tabuada added “We hope that through this venue, we can start addressing our concerns to improve how our sectors work together. As channels of information, the media occupy a big role in translating information objectively, with balance and truth.”

The highlight of the Palawan Information Summit will be the keynote talks by prominent Filipino news and information personalities Harold Clavite and Manuel Mogato. Clavite, the former Philippine Information Agency (PIA) director general, will discuss the roles of government in promoting transparency while 2018 Pulitzer Prize Winner for International Reporting Mogato will have a talk titled “Why the Media Needs to Know”.

The event will also include the ceremonial signing of A Covenant to Empower Our Citizens With Information for Palawan’s Development.
