PAGASA weather updates today: Sarah intensifies into a severe tropical storm, Thursday, November 21.

According to PAGASA severe weather bulletin, at 4:00 AM today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm “Sarah” was estimated based on all available data at 425 km East Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or 340 km East of Basco, Batanes (20.2 °N, 125.2 °E ).

Severe tropical storm Sarah is moving North Northwest at 25 kph with maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 1 was raised in Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

Light to moderate rains with some isolated heavy rain showers are expected over Isabela, Cagayan (especially in the eastern section), Aurora, northern Quezon, Metro Manila, and most of Central Luzon due to the remnant LPA and the trough of Severe Tropical Storm “Sarah.”

Residents in the areas above are advised to continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm or Rainfall Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings to be issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions.

Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea crafts, over the seaboards of areas under TCWS, seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon, and the western seaboard of Southern Luzon due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions caused by “SARAH” and the Northeast Monsoon.

Sarah is forecast to weaken tomorrow or on Saturday gradually. It is also predicted to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday, November 23.
