Authorities arrested a high-value drug suspect in Cebu City after being allegedly caught with 24 sachets of suspected shabu valued at P4.8 million.
The suspect was identified as Maria Rachelle Montero alias Vicky, 22, according to GMA News’ Unang Balita report.
Her accomplices allegedly reported her.
The suspect did not give a statement.
Meanwhile, in General Santos City, authorities seized some high-grade cocaine hidden in a refrigerated container van.
They also inspected 30 other refrigerated container vans that at the same time arrived with drugs but found no contraband.
According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the drug may have been smuggled before the refrigerated container van arrived in General Santos City or GenSan.
The refrigerated container van is said to have come from Singapore and passed through Davao City before arriving at GenSan.
Authorities were supposed to serve a warrant of arrest against suspect Denyok Evangelista when he allegedly resisted.
Several sachets of shabu, marked money, and a gun was recovered from the suspect.
According to police, the suspect was previously involved in robbery and holdup.
Over P500K worth of shabu seized in Nueva Ecija
Authorities seized more than P500,000 worth of illegal drugs during a series of anti-illegal drug operations in Nueva Ecija on Saturday, Nov. 28.
About 75 grams of shabu allegedly contained in 15 sachets were seized in San Isidro town. Three people were arrested in the area.
Four were caught in Cabanatuan City after they were found with 2 tubes of dried marijuana leaves and tooter pipe glass. Two of them were also caught with several sachets of shabu.
A man was also arrested in Lupao town after he was caught with 3 sachets of shabu.
Four sachets of shabu weighing 1.8 grams and cost at least P12,000 were seized from the 2 suspects.
According to the PNP, they have intensified their campaign against illegal drugs amid the pandemic.
All those arrested have been charged.
