More than P2.4 million worth of suspected marijuana was confiscated from 2 men arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation in Angeles City, Sunday night, police said.
Angeles police and local Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency personnel joined forces for the operation, which arrested alias “Ben” and “Mar.”
The 2 suspects, both aged 19, are said to be considered high-value targets. They are also said to be distributors of marijuana in Angeles City.
Authorities seized 2 blocks of suspected dried marijuana leaves with a street value of P2,448,000.00.
Meanwhile, a couple was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Santa Catalina, Zamboanga City.
Police seized sachets of suspected shabu worth P1.8 million from the suspects.
It is said that the police have been monitoring the couple’s movements for a long time.
The suspects will be charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Motorcycle rider dies after colliding with multicab in Antique
A motorcycle rider died while his ride was critical after colliding with a multicab in Sibalom, Antique, according to police.
According to the Sibalom police investigation, the motorcycle driven by Erwin Panaligan overtook and collided with the oncoming vehicle in Barangay Bungsod last Saturday night.
Panaligan sustained severe head injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Rider Jemboy Segualan sustained multiple injuries.
The driver of the multicab said he was ready to help the victims.

3 arrested in Manila riot
Three men were arrested after being involved in a riot in Tondo, Manila, police said Monday.
A concerned citizen reported to the police about the riot at the corner of Jose Abad Santos Avenue and Yuseco Street around 3 p.m.
A group of young people was still roaming around when they were caught by the police.
When the suspects in the riot were searched, a 19-year-old “Tokwa” alias was allegedly found with 2 knives.
“Tokwa” was picked up along with 2 other men.
Although no one was reported injured in the incident, the three will be charged with alarm and scandal.
