Two Britons and an American have been detained by the Bureau of Immigration for overstaying in the Philippines.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said today (Wednesday, September 19) that the men were arrested in separate operations in Pasig and Cavite.
“They will be deported for overstaying, as these foreign nationals never bothered to extend their stay when their tourist visa expired,” he said.
BI Acting Intelligence Chief Fortunato Manahan said the aliens were now being detained at the bureau’s Warden’s Facility and Protection Unit in Bicutan, Taguig City, pending deportation proceedings.
He identified the Britons as Kevin Hadfield, aged 68, and Kevin Stanley Eifert, 67, who were arrested on September 3 in Bacoor and Dasmariñas, respectively.
Hadfield has been in the country since 2008, while Eifert has been staying in the Philippines since 2013.
The American, 49-year-old Todd Allen Null, was arrested on Monday (September 17) in Pasig City. He has been overstaying in the Philippines since 2015. Previously, he lived at Daytona Beach in Florida.
“We requested the commissioner to issue a mission order for their arrest after informants tipped us about the presence of these aliens illegally staying in the country,” Manahan said.
Morente reiterated his warning to foreigners not to overstay in the country as it could lead to their arrest and deportation for violating Philippine Immigration Laws.
“Foreigners staying in the Philippines have a responsibility to ensure that their visas are valid and updated,” he said. He also stressed that there would be no letup in the BI’s campaign against illegal aliens.
