Over 74K QC residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Around 74,556 Quezon City residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a councilor on Tuesday.

As many as 235,052 residents have already received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine based on the forecast record on Sunday, said Joseph Juico, co-chair of the QC Task Force Vax to Normal.

“At the moment nasa around 14 percent of the entire population (ang nabakunahan). Target po natin 70 percent. Nasa milyon pa tayo bago ma-achieve ang herd immunity,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN Teleradyo.

The national government assured the local government of Quezon City that there would be a supply of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine in June for those vaccinated with the first dose this month.

He said the QC received 110,000 Sinovac vaccines in the latest shipment that arrived in the country, and 55,200 were given as the first dose. 40,000 doses will be used to add to the first dose, and the remaining 15,200 will be for the second dose of injections.

“Tiniyak na nila at sinabi nila sa amin na by that time dumating na or if not, yung delivery ng Sinovac vaccines is arriving first week of June or anytime now. Hindi kami kikilos nang walang assurance coming from national government,” he said.

Meanwhile, LRT-2 operations returned to normal after a day of provisional service Monday.

According to Atty. Hernan Cabrera, the spokesperson of LRT-2, they implemented a provisional service from Recto to Araneta Cubao Station after having a technical problem at Santolan Station Monday.

That is, they did not pick up passengers at Anonas, Katipunan, and Santolan Station yesterday.

Cabrera explained that this weekend they had to turn off the signaling system of Anonas, Katipunan, and Santolan Station to make way for the integration test in preparation for the opening of additional Masinag and Marikina LRT-2 Stations that are scheduled to be operational on June 22.

The train’s signaling system was fixed at 1 a.m. Tuesday, so LRT 2 resumed operation at 6 a.m.
