Vaccines purchased by the Philippines from the United States are available for the second phase of the national vaccination days on December 15, 16, and 17.

According to Dr. Ma. Paz Corales, consultant of the National Task Force against COVID-19, with the advent of vaccines and the allocation of national vaccination days, the government aims to reach the 7-million herd immunity target.

That is why I hope everyone will get vaccinated to avoid COVID-19 and for a happy Christmas and a happy new year here in the Philippines.

Adequate vaccinators are accompanied by many vaccines, especially in Regions 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and in Mindanao.

“Yung mga dati nang nakadeploy, lalo na yung mga DOH hospitals ay ibibigay po sila sa 20 priority provinces. Meaning to say kung saan mas kinakailangan sila,” she said.

Corales added that apart from DOH hospitals, various groups assist with vaccination to speed up the process.

Pfizer vaccines have also been extended to three months so that more people can be vaccinated.

Corales also said that although the vaccine is number one against the disease, the basic rules for not being infected with COVID-19 should not be forgotten. It is still following health protocols such as wearing a face mask, frequent hand washing, and physical distancing, especially now that many people are going out because of the holiday season.

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III favors keeping the Philippines on Alert Level 2 in the face of the threat of the more contagious omicron variant of -19 in the upcoming holiday season.

According to Duque, despite the improving situation of -19 in the country, it is better to keep Alert Level 2, which is scheduled to end on December 15.
