Tarlac shooter Jonel Nuezca had previous threats to the family of Sonya and Frank Anthony Gregorio due to land disputes, Emil Sumangli reported on “24 Oras.”
“Bago po nito, may nangyari pong sumugod siya sa mga kapatid ko saka sa pinsan ko, pinagtangkaan po niya. ‘Mga gago kayo! Mga mayayabang kayo! Gusto n’yo ipakita ko ‘yung pagka-demonyo ko?” said Tasha Delos Santos, daughter of Sonya.
According to Florentino, Sonya’s husband, their family tried not to engage Nuezca, but the killer cop had a different attitude.
“Pasintabi pa tayo na, uy bago lang po kami dito… Siya hindi. Parang astig talaga ang ano niya. Gusto, kilalanin siyang matapang,” Florentino said.
Barangay officials also said the Gregorios and Nuezca would often get into trouble each time the police officer went home during the weekend.
“Medyo madalas po ‘yung reklamo ng bawat isa sa kanila,” Rosita Ovejera, chairperson of Barangay Cabayaoasan, said.
“Sa pag-aayos ko po sa kanila, di ko po sila naaayos talaga. Kaya yung bandang huli napatawag ko na po sa kanila, halos hindi po sila sumisipot. Kaya yung huling reklamo po ulit no’ng namatay, inutusan ko na po sila sa pulis,” she added.

Nuezca previously threatened the Gregorios over land dispute
Ovejera said the dispute between the Nuezca and the Gregorios had to do with the right of way and the title of the lot that police officer bought from the victims.
“Mismo po sa bahay namin sila nagbayaran. Itong isa po, nagpapakumbaba na. Itong namatay. Pero sila na po yung parang ayaw na po magpaayos, ‘yung nakabili,” she said.
“Akala po nila niloko po sila ni Sonya dahil po sa kinuhaan niya sila ng P40,000, hindi po naibigay ‘yung title. Pero hindi na nga po talaga niya maibibigay dahil binawi po nila ‘yung P40,000 ta’s nagka-demandahan po,” she added.
Meanwhile, Florentino said Sonya had brushed off Nuezca’s actions.
“Napunta sa korte, nagkaayos. Balewala na sa misis ko kahit gano’n ang ginawa nila… Akala nila nakasangla ‘yung lupa na binebenta namin. Hindi naman. Walang katotohanan dahil natalo sila sa kaso na hindi naman nanloloko ‘yung nagbebenta,” he said.
