A 78-year-old Connecticut man has admitted to sending nude photos of himself to underage girls in the Philippines.
Harry Bright from Waterbury — also known as “Buddy Bright” — pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of obscene matter to a minor at Harford federal court on Thursday (May 31).
7News Boston has reported that the court was told that last November the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted Homeland Security to report that Bright was attempting to entice a 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity on Facebook. They also discovered that he was planning to travel to the Philippines to meet the girl, who he had described on Facebook Messenger as his “future wife”.
The investigation determined that Bright started communicating with the girl in late August, sent her sexually explicit messages and requested that she send him nude photographs.
Then, in September, Bright sent the girl nude pictures of himself.
The court was not told where in the Philippines the girl lived, nor how she and Bright first made communication with each other.
Following further investigation, it was found that Bright had engaged in sexually explicit conversations with at least two other 15-year-old Filipino girls through Facebook Messenger, and that he also sent one of these victims a nude picture of himself.
Bright was arrested on the federal charges in December last year. He is currently released on $75,000 bond and is due back in court in September for sentencing. He is now facing up to 10 years in prison.
