10 arrested in illegal derby

Ten people in Mandaluyong City have been arrested in a derby or cockfighting that is prohibited under a modified enhanced community quarantine, Bam Alegre reported in Unang Balita Monday.

A bet of more than P6,000 was confiscated during the operation.

“Dapat iwasan yung pagsusugal kasi magkakaroon po tayo ng mass gathering,” said Police Colonel Hector Grijalde Jr., chief of Mandaluyong Police.

Meanwhile, a man named Ben Torres, who was allegedly a suspect in large-scale estafa, was also arrested in Mandaluyong City.

Torres allegedly bought 13,350 n95 face masks, but the check he paid worth more than P700,000 bounced.

Torres allegedly sold the masks so they could not be recovered.

The suspect defended himself, saying he just delivered the check, and the victim’s transaction was different.
