On June 6, the boyfriend of the infected personnel joined the BFP 6. The group went to a private beach house in Anini-y, Antique, with the then-BFP 6 regional director Fire Senior Supt. Roderick Aguto.

The group stayed in Antique from June 6 to June 7. Photos show that the group did not observe physical distancing while drinking and did not wear face masks.

On June 12, the female personnel, along with other BFP colleagues, went to Boracay. They stayed in a hotel until June 14.

The female personnel also returned to Iloilo City after finding out she has COVID-19. It was previously reported that she had undergone the COVID-19 test in the first week of June and should have been quarantined for 14 days, but she went to Boracay just a few days after her swab test.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat herself confirmed that Aguto had a “Despedida party” in Boracay before the island was opened to tourists on June 16.

Puyat was angered by the group’s blatant violation of quarantine regulations. The incident also prompted Boracay’s administration to quarantine about 200 people and revoke the hotel’s accreditation where the BFP 6 stayed.

Iloilo City Mayor Treñas also ordered an investigation on some employees of the Iloilo City Planning and Development Office as they also went to the beach house where the BFPs went.
