A Norweigan who went to a hotel with 2 minors caught and currently under police investigation.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) took the Norwegian national to the police station after he was suspected to be involved in human trafficking.

Authorities identified the foreigner as Scherner, 54 years old who entered a hotel at Sta. Ana Avenue in Davao City with the two children. The WCPD determined that the children were only eight and ten years old.

The WCPO-DCPO received information about a human trafficking case, so they conducted the said operation to respond.

The new spokesperson of DCPO,  Police Captain Nolan Tagsip, said that their operation was not entrapment. They only invited the Norwegian to clarify the information they have received.

As per the initial investigation, Scherner told the police that the eight-year-old child is his Filipina wife’s son out of wedlock while the other 10-year-old was his wife’s nephew.

Scherner further explained that his wife was not in the hotel since she was in her province preparing for the documents of the eight-year-old kid.

The DCPO has been conducting such operations as part of its efforts to fight the human trafficking incidents in Davao city, which often victimizes minors.
