A nine-year-old boy was killed by a member of a prominent Misamis Oriental family in Cagayan de Oro City yesterday.
Police say 46-year-old Alfonso Dy Dadole III, a grandson of the late Misamis Oriental Governor Alfonso R Dadole, stabbed the boy after luring him into his bedroom for sexual favours.
Police say Dadole used two knives to kill Cairistian “CJ” Balquin, a son of his next-door neighbour.
Authorities say that one knife that was used to kill the boy was bent from the force to kill the child, who stabbed at least 20 times in the chest. Police believe that Dadole snapped after the boy refused his sexual advances.
An investigation into the incident found that a neighbour saw the boy playing with his younger brother when Dadole invited him into his home.
Police say the younger brother followed the victim inside the house when he suddenly came running out calling for help.
The boy was already dead when found in Dadole’s bedroom. The suspect surrendered to police after coming out of the house with his hands in a ‘handcuffed manner.’
When questioned about the killing, he said that his addiction to drugs may have played a part in the murder. He added that a voice in his head told him to commit the murder.
Murder charges are being posted by Macasandig Police where Dadole is currently detained.
Cagayan de Oro has seen the murder of two young children in just two weeks. The murder of a 14-year-old girl took place in CDO on August 13. Illegal drugs featured in both murders.
Alfonso Dadole’s grandfather, the late Governor Alfonso R Dadole was the provincial governor of Misamis Oriental from 1961 to 1972.
