Police Colonel Moises Villaceran Jr., the Pasig City police chief, said this is part of a series of police operations against alleged drug syndicates that are all Nigerian nationals.

“If you can recall iyong unang operation nila happened in Las Pinas last November and then noong Dec 31, mayroon ding nangyaring operation doon sa Tarlac, sa Concepcion, Tarlac wherein mayroon din who died in police operation. So ito ang pangatlo, at based sa data namin, through the drug enforcement group ng PNP, ito iyong leader, at kinukuha pa namin ang exact name ng leader nila,” said Villaceran.

(If you can recall their first operation happened in Las Pinas last November and then on Dec 31, there was also an operation there in Tarlac, in Concepcion, Tarlac where there was also someone who died in a police operation. So this is the third, and based on our data, through the drug enforcement group of the PNP, this is the leader, and we are still getting the exact name of their leader.)

Villaceran added the Nigerian drug syndicate leader tried to fight the police so he was shot.

“During buy-bust operation, medyo natunugan ng suspek na ang katransaksyon niya ay pulis, so since maliit ang aming pulis, lumaban siya. Pero iyong backup ng pulis natin ay isa ring pulis, so iyon po ang bumaril sa kanya, and tinamaan siya so iyon ang nangyari,” said Villaceran.

(During the buy-bust operation, the suspect sensed that his transaction was with the police, so since our police were small, he resisted. But our police backup was also a policeman, so that was the one who shot him, and hit him so that is what happened.)

About two kilos of suspected shabu were seized from the alleged Nigerian drug syndicate leader.

According to the Pasig Police, the suspect was alone but they are still looking for possible comrades who allegedly sold drugs in Tarlac, Las Pinas, and Pasig City and also planned to enter almost the whole of Luzon.
