A netizen revealed Thursday that a shop prints fake COVID-19 rapid test results and customers could get them for only P25.
Mariz Umali reported on “24 Oras” that Shin, not her real name, discovered the printing and selling of fake COVID-19 test results while she was waiting in line at the shop.
“Nakita ko unang una, caps lock, ‘Negative.’ So binasa ko po siya, COVID. Ta’s nakita ko po pinapalitan po ‘yung name no’ng nasa result po,” she said.
(I saw written on caps lock ‘Negative.’ So I read it, and it said COVID. Then I saw the employee changed the name written on the result.)
“No’ng pinrint na po ‘yun nakita ko ‘yung mismong original copy, iba ‘yung pangalan na nando’n sa nando’n sa may screen. Aware po ako na hindi puwede mag-print ang kahit sino ng gano’n e,” Shin added.
(When it was printed, the name in the original copy was different on that of the screen. I am aware that printing such a document is illegal.)
Shen then secretly photographed the print shop’s monitor as well as the female employee who edited the COVID-19 results and posted it online.
The employee confirmed that she forged the COVID-19 test result, which went viral on social media.
“Pina-edit niya lang po… na puwede po palitan ‘yung name at saka age, ‘yun lang po,” the woman said, referring to the customer.
(The customer asked me to edit it. I changed the name and age.)

“Nagsabi na po ako sa kaniya bawal po e tapos pina-edit niya po,” she added.
(I told her that it was illegal, but she still asked me to edit it.)
She also said she asked the customer to pay P25, which is their standard rate for their editing services.
“Sorry na po, hindi ko na po uulitin ‘yun,” the employee said in tears.
(I apologize, I will not do it again.)
COVID-19 testing czar Vince Dizon warned the public against faking COVID-19 test results.
“Hindi po pupuwedeng mameke ng resulta, hindi puwedeng magbago ng resulta. Mabigat po ang magiging penalties para sa ganiyang mga violation kaya nanawagan tayo sa ating mga kababayan, ‘wag na ‘wag po nating gagawin ‘yan,” he stressed.
(You can’t fake and changes the results. The penalties for such violation is heavy. So I appealed to the public not to do such a thing.)
Quezon City Criminal Investigation and Detection Group investigated the incident and confirmed the illegal activity.
