NCRPO to assist in fast, safe delivery of COVID-19 vaccines

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is ready to assist in the transfer of coronavirus diseases (COVID-19) vaccines to Metro Manila, according to their chief Police Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr.

Just this Tuesday, the authorities conducted simulation exercises in which private and public offices that supervise the logistics of vaccines participated.

Participants included the NCRPO.

“Hopefully the volume of the vaccines will be arriving any time. Ang atin namang kapulisan sa buong NCRPO ay nag-simulation exercise na noong nakaraang araw. This is to safeguard the safety of our vaccines para properly na mai-deliver ‘yan sa hospitals o vaccination centers na dapat puntahan,” Danao told ABS-CBN News on Wednesday.

From Ninoy Aquino International Airport, vaccines will be taken to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, which will be the country’s centralized vaccine storage hub, and will be taken to referral hospitals in Metro Manila to be injected into those on the government’s priority list, particularly health worker.

“Wala naman tayong nakita (na challenges), except kung magkaroon ng aberya, in the sense that ang sasakyan ay masisiraan. Part of the [simulation exercise] was how fast will the provider be able to transfer the vaccines. ‘Pag nasiraan ito, gaano mo kabilis mata-transfer ang vaccines? So far, naging maayos naman,” said Danao.

Danao added they cannot afford to mishandle vaccines because they are sensitive.

“Delikado po ‘pag ma-hamper kasi may mine-maintain tayong temperature. Dapat ma-deliver ‘yan without any hindrance. We are here to secure the area,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte has appealed to the communists not to block the COVID-19 vaccines that would be delivered to remote areas of the country.

Duterte said the Communist Party of the Philippines must ensure that vaccines are not intercepted.

“I am appealing to the Communist Party of the Philippines, ‘yung pinaka-umbrella, I don’t consider ‘yung mga NDF-NDF pati NPA. The Communist Party of the Philippines must guarantee that the vaccines in the course of their — being transported to areas where [there] are no city health officers or medical persons na huwag ninyong galawin ang medisina,” Duterte said.
