NCR Plus placed under ‘GCQ with restrictions’ until end of June

Metro Manila and some neighboring provinces, NCR Plus, will remain under general community quarantine (GCQ) “with restrictions” until the end of June, President Rodrigo Duterte announced Monday night.

Duterte said NCR and Bulacan will be placed in the GCQ “with some restrictions”, while Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite will be in the GCQ “with heightened restrictions.”

GCQ with some restrictions is a looser type of quarantine compared to GCQ with heightened restrictions.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque earlier said he thinks NCR Plus will be subjected to ordinary GCQ.

At the same time, 21 areas were subjected to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) due to the increase in COVID-19 cases:

Moreover, other parts of the country are already under “restricted” GCQ, regular GCQ, and modified GCQ, the most relaxed quarantine status.

There are already 1.322 million COVID-19 cases recorded in the Philippines of which 59,096 are active. A total of 22,845 people died from the disease.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) has clarified how an individual who has been injected with complete doses of  vaccine can be considered .

DOH spokesperson Maria Rosario Vergeire said, just because the doses are done does not mean you get the full benefit of the vaccine right away.

She said there is not enough evidence that  can prevent the spread or transmission of the virus, so it is still possible to infect or get infected even if fully vaccinated.

So authorities remind the public to be still careful and adhere to health protocols.
