NCR Plus still under GCQ beginning July

The general community quarantine (GCQ) will be extended again in Metro Manila and several neighboring provinces next month as coronavirus disease (COVID-19) plagues the Philippines.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) announced the recommendations for new quarantine classifications in President Rodrigo Duterte’s weekly Talk to the People Address this Monday.

The new classifications are effective from 1st to 31st July.

In connection with the said announcement, GCQ will be implemented in:

  • Metro Manila, Rizal at Bulacan (with some restrictions until July 15)
  • Laguna at Cavite (with “heightened” restrictions until July 15)
  • Baguio City
  • Ifugao
  • City of Santiago
  • Isabela
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Quirino
  • Batangas
  • Quezon
  • Guimaras
  • Aklan
  • Bacolod City
  • Negros Occidental
  • Antique
  • Capiz
  • Zamboanga Sibugay
  • City of Zamboanga
  • Iligan City
  • Gen. Santos City
  • Sultan Kudarat
  • Sarangani
  • Cotabato
  • South Cotabato
  • Agusan del Norte
  • Surigao del Norte
  • Agusan del Sur
  • Cotabato City

NCR Plus still under GCQ beginning July

Strict modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) will be imposed in the following areas until July 15:

  • Puerto Princesa
  • Naga City
  • Iloilo City
  • Iloilo
  • Negros Oriental
  • Zamboanga del Sur
  • Zamboanga del Norte
  • Cagayan de oro City
  • Davao City
  • Davao Oriental
  • Davao Occidental
  • Davao de Oro
  • Davao del Sur
  • Davao del Norte
  • Butuan City
  • Dinagat Islands
  • Surigao del Sur

The rest of the Philippines will be placed under the most relaxed modified general community quarantine, where minimal restrictions will be imposed.

GCQ “with restrictions” is currently being implemented in NCR and Bulacan, while GCQ “with heightened restrictions” is implemented in Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite.

The OCTA Research Group recently recommended that the GCQ be extended only to Metro Manila and neighboring provinces in July, which should be implemented to prevent a “rebound surge.”

More than 10.1 million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Philippines, according to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. Of that number, 2.52 million have already completed two doses.

Galvez also expects 99,000 doses of Moderna vaccines to arrive in the Philippines today, June 29.
