MMDA gives free bus ride to LRT-2 passengers

LRT-2 announced on Friday morning that MMDA would give a free bus ride to affected Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 2 passengers.

LRT-2 suspended its operations yesterday when the rectifier substation 5 in Katipunan station tripped and caused a fire.

The LRT-2 management tweeted, “BUS RIDE: Please be advised that a FREE bus ride from will be ready to service passengers from the Santolan footbridge to bring them to Cubao area. Have a safe trip!”

LRT clarified that MMDA free bus ride would only pick-up passengers from LRT-2 stations.

The government confirmed today that three of the LRT-2 stations would not run for nine months.

In an interview with the dzBB, the Light Rail Transit Authority said it would take some time before some stations in Marikina and Quezon City could be operational.

“Ang mga station na walang operations na aabutin nga ng nine months, definitely, Santolan, Katipunan at saka Anonas,” said LRTA spokesperson Hernando Cabrera.

(The stations without operations for nine months, definitely are Santolan, Katipunan, and Anonas.)

“Malaki ‘yung damage. ‘Yung na-damage na parts are really big parts na imported po sila… Kailangan po natin na mag-import pa,” Cabrera added.

(The damage was massive. The damaged parts were imported, so we need to import.)
