Mitsubishi Materials Corp. will make an historic apology to prisoners of war forced to work in their mines during the Second World War.

Senior Officials for Mitsubishi Materials said they with make a formal apology to an American POW, 94-year-old James Murphy who was captured in the Philippines in 1942.
Mitsubishi will address Murphy and other survivors of Imperial Japan’s notorious prison camps in a ceremony at the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, California on Sunday.
Japanese prison camps were known to be brutal, with the Japanese creating horrendous conditions for their prisoners.

Mitsubishi was known to have some of the worst conditions with numerous mining officials sentenced for their atrocities after the war ended.
