Mitsubishi Motors released a statement on Friday saying they will offer for sale their production plant in the state of Illinois and move manufacturing to the Philippines and other Asian countries.
The car giant said it would focus more on the growing Asian economies which show brighter futures for their SUV and truck production.
The Tokyo-based automaker said it will bring more to both Thailand and the Philippines in coming years.
Mitsubishi has strong following within the Philippines but has shown dwindling sales in other parts of the world. The automaker halted production in Europe in 2012 and now intends to do the same in the United States. Today, Mitsubishi still makes SUVs in Russia.
