Queen Pia bringing it home: Miss Universe 2017 to be held in the Philippines

The Philippines’ Department of Tourism has announced that the country will host the 2017 Miss Universe pageant.

The announcement comes after the Philippines won the 2016 Miss Universe pageant, thanks to the lovely Pia Wurtzbach.

The last times the Philippines hosted pageant was in 1994 and 1974.

At a cost of over $11 million, the pageant will be funded by private sponsors, not from government coffers. President Duterte said “the government is not keen on sponsoring the pageant.”
