4 minors drowned in Bataan river

Four minors drowned in the river in Hermosa town in Bataan on Tuesday afternoon.

Among the dead were twins AC and AJ Magtanong, both 11 years old. Their 13 -year -old aunt Reynalyn Magtanong and their playmate Gabriel Santos, 11, also drowned.

The four were bathing in the river in Barangay Almacen when the incident happened.

According to the father of the twins, Juanito, although it is difficult to accept what happened, he said he could not do anything because he believed that it was an accident.

“Pare-pareho kahit sinong tao walang dapat sisihin, disgrasya, siguro hanggang dun lang sila,” he said.

It is said that the children decided to bathe in the Almacen river, but they ended up in the deep part of the river.

“Dahil sa puwesto ng kanilang pinaglubugan ay medyo malalim nasa kulang 10 feet din ang kanilang pinaglubugan, medyo mahihirapan talagang mag-rescue ‘yung mga taga-Almacen dahil medyo may kalawakan din ang ilog,” explained Kapitan Herman Layug.

The victims were rushed to Orani District Hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
