Mike Defensor asks NBI to trace netizen who threatened daughter

Congressman Mike Defensor of Anakalusugan party-list asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to help him find the netizen who threatened her daughter on social media.

Mike Defensor said in an interview in Taguig City that one netizen commented on his posts on Instagram, threatening the life of her daughter Juliana.

“Nagulat ako kasi nung Linggo, parang pinost ko yung the night before the novena noong aming anak. Tapos merong nagkomento doon, ‘Papatayin ko yung anak mo, g*go.’ Yung pangalawang sinabi niya, parang ‘Mata sa mata, buhay sa buhay, papatayin ko si Juliana,'” he said.

(I was surprised because, on Sunday, it was like I posted the night before the novena of our child. Then someone commented there, ‘I will kill your child, g * go.’ The second he said, like ‘Eye to eye, life to life, I will kill Juliana’)

“Siyempre nakakabahala yung ganun. Hindi mo alam kung saan nanggaling yung, kung ano yung isip ng taong yun, at hindi maganda yung ganun,” he added.

(Of course, that worries me. You don’t know where that came from, what that person’s mind is, and that is not good.)

The solon said he formally asked assistance from the NBI to trace the identity of the said netizen.

“Nagpa-message muna ako para madaling ma-trace. Alam ko dinelete niya e pero nakuha namin yung pangalan and hopefully ma-trace namin ito,” he said.

(I messaged first to be easily traced. I know he deleted it, but we got the name, and hopefully, we can locate it.)

Defensor said he had received death threats and curses before, especially whenever he is involved in controversial issues, but he would just ignore them.

“Kung minsan siyempre kapag hindi na masyadong maganda ang lengguwahe, dine-delete yan. Pero kung nagmumura lang siya, pinapabayaan ko,” he said.

(Sometimes, of course, when the language is not very good, it is deleted. But if he just swears, I let him.)

Defensor, who is one of the 70 lawmakers who voted to deny ABS-CBN franchise renewal, reminded the public to be responsible in using social media and to respect each other’s beliefs.
