Comedian Michael V. shared he experienced discrimination after testing positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“Mayroon, mayroon. Oo, kaya nga sinabi ko roon sa vlog na hindi ko ide-detalye at mabuti pa nga siguro na ganu’n na lang. Pero paghandaan n’yo ‘yung mga sitwasyon n’yo,” Bitoy said in an interview on “Quarantined with Howie Severino.”
“‘Yung mga sarili n’yo ihanda n’yo sa mga ganu’ng klaseng sitwasyon dahil hindi imposible talaga at hindi mo rin sila masisisi lalo kung walang masyadong kaalaman,” he said.
‘Yun ang tendency talaga, eh, mag-jump sila into conclusion. At hindi lang ‘yung physical, ah,” he added.
Michael V. said he also experienced a lot of discrimination in social media but said he is used to such situations because he is a public figure.
“Sa social media marami. Maraming ganu’ng klaseng discrimination at saka harassment na matatawag,” he said.
“Since public figure ako medyo sanay na tayo riyan. Pagdating sa social media medyo hindi na ganu’n ka-big deal talaga,” he added.
Bitoy shared his family also experienced harassment after tested positive for the disease.
“Hindi ko na lang ide-detalye pero kami mismo ng pamilya ko, naka-experience kami ng harassment. Eh wala, ganon talaga eh. Kaya siguro yung iba, ayaw nila paalam na may COVID sila eh,” he said in the vlog.

Michael V. still recovering from COVID-19
Meanwhile, Bitoy also shared good news that he is now feeling better but admitted his lung capacity is not yet 100 percent.
“Overall I’m good pero ‘yung lung capacity, parang napansin ko kagaya nu’ng ibang mga naging pasyente rin, naging biktima rin ng COVID, parang hindi pa nakaka-100% ‘yung lung capacity ko. Medyo madali pa rin ako hingalin,” Bitoy said.
Michael V. said he thinks the virus scarred his lungs.
“‘Yun na lang siguro dahil feeling ko nag-peklat ‘yung lungs ko eh, kaya medyo mahirap siyang mag-expand ngayon at hindi pa 100% ‘yung lung capacity,” he said.
Aside from his lung condition, Bitoy said his sense of smell hasn’t completely returned.
“Honestly, hanggang ngayon hindi pa bumabalik 100% ‘yung pang-amoy ko. Nakakaamoy na ako, pero parang mali pa rin ‘yung naaamoy ko minsan,” he said.
“‘Yung amoy ng isang bagay na ine-expect mo na ‘yun ang amoy niya, parang hindi pa rin ‘yun ‘yung rumerehistro sa ilong ko at sa utak ko,” the comedian added.
